Valentine’s Day in Paris

Paris will always be a city synonymous with love, for most of us it’s the first place we come to when thinking of the perfect destination for a romantic break. This does mean however that many other couples will have the same idea of visiting The City of Light over the 14th February, so it’s important to plan ahead. If you are flying into Paris, certain airlines, like Air France may offer special deals on airfares over the Valentine’s weekend to encourage visitors, but do make sure you shop around for the best deal.

Once there an abundance of romantic things to do lie at your fingertips, here are some of the best to help you plan that perfect Valentine’s Day in Paris.

Evening Walks
An evening walk in Paris has been the backdrop of many romantic scenes in movies and sit-coms throughout the years and it’s not hard to see why. Wrapping up warm and walking hand in hand with your other half past beautiful sights such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre is sure to make you feel loved, plus it’s completely free! If you prefer to explore further, past the better known attractions, head to the side streets of Montmartre and the Sacré-Coeur and enjoy an art inspired romance fit for any 19th century poet, with a bottle of wine in hand from Nicolas or the more pricey Ryst-Dupeyron in the 7th arrondissement.

Panoramic Views of Paris
Looking out across the stunning views of the city with your loved one is a fantastic way to spend a romantic afternoon; it also provides the perfect location for anyone planning to pop the question whilst they are in Paris! The city has several vantage points, the Eiffel Tower of course being the most famous, with views of all of Paris’ famous landmarks, you can walk up to the top deck however if you want to be able to talk to your other half when you get up there it might be a good idea to take the elevator up the 1063 ft tower! The Grand Carousel is also open for spectacular views in the romantic Place de la Concorde.  If you are looking for somewhere a little quieter, Parc de Belleville, a short walk down the street from Onze Bar, is a hidden gem that provides both excellent views of the city and romantic walks through the park.

Paris’ Best Chocolate Shops
There are not many women who don’t enjoy chocolates and Paris has some of the best chocolate shops in the world where you can treat each other to some of the most delicious and artisan delights on offer. Dark chocolate is a speciality in Paris and is also known for its aphrodisiac qualities, as well as ganaches, a French delicacy of chocolates with rich creamy fillings. Cosy up with a warm drink and a box of delicious chocolates and while away the afternoon with your loved one.  Some of the best places to find gourmet chocolates are:

Servant – 30, rue d’Auteuil, 75016
Hediard – 31 Avenue George V, 75008
Gerard Mulot – 76 Rue de Seine, 75006
Debauve & Gallais – 30 Rue des Saints-Peres, 75007

Paris has always been associated with style and so is the perfect place to indulge yourself with couture, from designer handbags and shoes to the most up-to-date fashionista must haves. If that is a little out of your price range head to some of the fantastic markets in Paris and pick yourself a keepsake to remind you of your romantic getaway.  And, of course, don’t forget you can find sexy lingerie just about everywhere.   For those more adventureous, Les Chandelles offers an exotic evening that can be as wild as your imagination.
