A table with many gold plated silverware and dishes.

Brocante-Antiquités — Chatou

Just outside of Paris on the Ile de Chatou of the Seine, this brocante and antiquités festival is the largest and best antique/brocante exhibition. It also happens to feature a rich collection of hams, grilled meats, artisinal cheeses and other delicacies to munch on while shopping.

The food itself is surprisingly excellent, especially the meat and roasted hams, so come hungry.  You can spend hours walking around and viewing the different antiques for sale, including excellent silver, champagne and wine buckets, paintings, china, and all kinds of knick-knacks.

Last year we bought a great Christofle silver set (144 pieces) for about one-third price of when purchased new.  You can also bargain and should, to get a good price.  Buying on the last day at the last hour is the best way to drive down prices.

Open through March 21.   Daily 10am-7pm, entry €5 (free for kids up to 15 years).
