A Pocket of Paris: Rue de la Huchette

Rue de la Huchette, situated right beside the St. Michel fountain and St. Michel métro station, is a narrow street that is full of character. It boasts many cheap, but tasty, three course menus ranging from 8€ to around 30€.

As this is in the old Latin Quarter, it is a favorite among tourists but Parisians also enjoy the lively atmosphere.

The higher the prices of some restaurants generally indicate larger and higher quality portions, but there are also great deals to be found. The men at all the entrances of the restaurants will call for your attention but you must keep focused on the best meals at the best prices, which are indicated on the boards displayed at the front of the restaurant.

There are also many very fashionable bars with cool interior design, great atmospheres, and their quintessential Parisian overpriced drinks (Happy Hour is the time to hit these places in order to get a few Euros of the regular price). Also along this street are touristy shops for all your touristy needs, as well as, a very small theatre with a great line-up of classic French plays performed by talented actors.

These are my highlights for rue de la Huchette:

Best pub: ZE Bar

Here you will find a colourful bar with a cool atmosphere. The bar is very well designed with big screens to watch matches, a friendly staff, a youthful feel, and 5€ for a pint and 6€ for a cocktail during Happy Hour!

Best Meal:

This one depends on your taste. If you want typical French dishes, fish, Greek food or anything else really you will find it. Just make sure you look at the three course menus and pick the best meals at the best prices.

Best Entertainment: Theatre de la Huchette

A great little theatre showing two plays, at 19:00 and 20:00 respectively, Monday through Saturday. The first is “La Cantratrice Chauve†and a very funny performance of the classic “La Leçonâ€. The theater’s tiny interior makes all plays very intimate and the actors are superb. You’ll find this quaint theatre located at 23 rue de la Huchette.

Rue de la Huchette is a great evening out in Paris but also a cheap one, so head down and enjoy!
