New Year’s In Paris

If you are lucky enough to be in Paris for New Year’s, the difficulty is not finding out what to do but narrowing your choice of where to go. Notably, the metro is free until New Year’s early morning. There is just too much to choose from, as the city stays up all night to welcome the New Year. Places to go on New Year’s include:

Trocadero. See the Eiffel Tower sparkle at midnight from Place du Trocadero.

Avenue des Champs-Élysées. This lively place remains the party spot for New Year’s. Tens of thousands of party goers will be here, and if you don’t mind the crowds there are tons of bars open where you can find a spot to drink. The event is free.

Sacre Coeur at Montmartre. While not as crowded, this beautiful spot with views of the city and bars and cafes all around, remains a nice venue to usher in the New Year.

Place de la Concorde Big Wheel. In the most famous square of Paris where Marie-Antoinette met her fate, a giant ferris wheel remains open through February 17, and gives a sky-high view of the city as you twirl in a circle (but be mindful if you don’t like being in high places).

Bound Bar Avenue George V. For the ultra chic, Bound is the place to be, and where the beautiful people go. Don’t bother having a budget, but do make sure you look your best, especially if you want to impress the many models who come here.

Le Fumoir. The young jet set go here, and why not — close to Le Louvre, the Latin Quarter and the hopping Second Arrondissement there are a tons of bars close by to hop from place to place.

Cafe Bonnie. This art noveau little gem in the 10th Arrondissement will be hopping with the under 30 crowd.

Cafe Oz. If wild partying Aussie style is your gig, this place will keep buzzing all night long.

Les Chandelles. For something truly exclusive, and expensive, you can try reserve a spot for an evening at this high society club for the daring.
