Walking along the streets of Île Saint-Louis you expect to find cute stores full of jewelry, trinkets, and art work, but what I was surprised to discover was a hip clothing store which is now one of my favorites! Named simply after its address, 78 could easily be overlooked when passing by if it wasn’t for their window display full of beautifully dressed and accessorized mannequins.
The style is “boho chic” with an edge, and you can find light comfortable dresses, peasant tops and leather jackets all at affordable prices. Most of their clothes are by a Danish brand called Blend but their huge variety of smooth, leather handbags are all made in France.
They have entire outfits displayed on hangers that feature trendy but relaxed clothing. The colours of their current collection are soft and feminine and remind you of springtime in a Parisian garden. On a table they have a rainbow of saddle bags and their selection of scarves come in every colour and pattern imaginable. It’s like looking across a field of flowers. They also have beautiful pastel handbags with chain-linked leather woven straps reminiscent of Chanel. One in particular, a creamy, lilac delight, made me swoon instantly! Larger leather hobo bags line their shelves above the racks of jeans, blazers, vests and blouses below.
Belts of different earthy tones lie beside small clutches adorned with studs, tassels, and delicate chains. The sales associates are all very friendly and helpful making your time at 78 a perfect shopping experience. I ended up buying a simple, incredibly soft, white cotton T-shirt with a cool feather graphic print design and a beautiful sheer scarf that looked like a canvas splashed with navy, black and fuchsia paint. Together they cost me under 40€! The clothing here is exactly what you need if you are trying to imitate a young Parisian’s effortless style.
So if you’re looking to spruce up your spring wardrobe or bring home a fashionable gift then head to 78 rue Saint-Louis en Île! They are even open 7 days a week, need I say more?

I actually found the employees to be rather rude at this boutique. Very disappointing.
Ok, I was also in this store on the advice of my sister the bag-hound. I went there searching for a bag by a designer whose first name is Marc (NOT Jacobs) and found several that I did not buy but should have— Now it’s driving me crazy to find this designer again!!!! Anyone out there know who this might be?
Hello! The name you are looking for is Marc Labat. There is a stand in the Bazaar Hotel de Ville (BHV department store) and he has a shop rue Vieille du Temple in the Marais. He actually (these days, not 3+ years ago) buys bags and rebrands them at a HUGE markup. Before buying anything, shop around! You may find the same or similar at a much lower price…which is nice because you can buy more :)!
