World Cup Final 2010 in Paris

The  World Cup final is set — The Netherlands against Spain, and you can watch it on a giant screen at the famous Trocadero fountains across from the Eiffel Tower.  This FIFA Fanfest offers enthusiastic fans a great place in a lively atmosphere to watch what will be a historic, and exciting match.  The game is set for 8:30 p.m. (Paris time) on Sunday, July 11, but you will want to come early as the area has a maximum capacity of  up to 20,000 fans, and expect it to reach full capacity before kick-off time.

 The area is enclosed by a fence for this event, which means you need to pass guards to check bags, but entry itself is free.  You can buy drinks, sandwiches and snacks as well (no beverages may be brought into the enclosed area for safety reasons).  At the bottom of the hill, there is a carousel which is perfect for little tykes to take a ride on, as well as to buy ice cream and cotton candy.

At the plaza on top, there is a naval museum, ethnology museum, and across the plaza a series of cafes where you can buy lunch, dinner, or just snack on desserts, appetizers, or sip a cafe.  Also nearby is Avenue Kleber, which goes straigth to the Arc de Triomphe (about a 10 minute walk).   

The best part is to watch the fans, draped in their national colors, singing songs and chanting for the teams they support.  The Dutch draped in Orange, and the Spaniards wearing bull horns, will create a very lively atmosphere for the World Cup Final.  The area is within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and even the famous Avenue Champs Elysees.
