Jardin d’Acclimatation

IMGP3770.JPGCelebrating 150 years as a giant botanical garden, the Jardin d’Acclimatation remains a favorite playground for children and adults, as well a continuing exhibition of tours around the world.  Until May 16th, the Jardin d’Acclimatation is showcasing Russian culture, with a variety of exhibits, dance troupes, artist shops, and food kiosks for everyone to enjoy.  Dancers from Russia in various Gypsy, Cossack and other traditional costumes perform various traditional dances, and other entertainers performing juggling acts.

The park itself has been showcasing the world since Berbers from Morocco came to visit in the 1800s, which then established a tradition of people from all over the world being featured in the park, almost like a World’s Fair.  Even without an exhibit, the park is a favorite among my children because of the rides that are offered, including bumper cars, carousels, boat rides, roller coasters, and real mini-cars for children to drive with their parents.

The park also has a very large play area in the spring, summer, and fall, and there are fountains that children can run through, which is perfect on hot days.  The park also has trampolines, horseback riding, puppet shows, and cafés to have lunch or buy a snack.  Of course, ice cream cones can be found at multiple places, and there is even a toy shop for your little ones to coax you to buy them a small surprise.

Park entry fees are low (2.90€) so the main expense comes from the rides, which can be costly (usually 2€+ per ride).  However, there are very few lines, it is in close proximity to central Paris, and is far cheaper than taking the family to Disneyland Paris.
