Lavinia

This flashy store, one of the larger wine stores in Paris, is perhaps best known for its extensive collection of non-French wines. It has a broad selection of wines from the United States, Australia, Austria, Germany, Spain, Chile and Italy. By way of example, the list of U.S. wines is impressive, including top wines from Washington State (De Lille Cellars) and Napa Valley (Stag’s Leap and Heitz Cellars).

It also sells top wines from France, including “premier†wines and champagnes that top out at 4,800 Euros for a single bottle of 2000 Petrus. A 6 litre bottle of Château d’Yquem therefore seems like a bargain at only 4,000 Euros. But the store also lists a range of solid wines at less than 10 Euros per bottle, including some from Bordeaux, Alsace and the undervalued Languedoc-Roussillon region.

You also can dine at the store’s restaurant which is open for lunch, and in the afternoon you can come to taste wine, cheese and various “charcuterie.†Products can also be purchased online for delivery in France. More information about Lavinia may be found here: www.lavinia.com.
